Week 26: Combining Multi-Agent System with an IOT simulation

This week was dedicated to mature and solidify our theme strategy for this trimester challenge. The current idea is to prepare a multi-agent system that manages the energy of a community and build a physical mockup, with some sensors, leds or some other available IOT devices, to simulate the behaviour that our multi-agent system will determine. With this idea in mind, we’re trying to schedule a meeting with our expert teacher to reach a final idea and available equipments to use.


In the classes of AMBIIA of this week, we had a deeper look into the characteristics and how to correctly use and communicate using a Arduino and ESP32 boards, while in the practical classes, some exercises were done combining the use of a ESP32 board with some leds, coding some light effects as well as turning our board into a wi-fi network. We also learned some practical cases of Mobile Robotics in some projects that are/were developed in ISEP, as well as some exercises for a first practical contact with ROS.


In SMAGIA, we learned about the different types of Agents, for example, collaborative or reactive agents. We were also able to assist a presentation of dr. David Valiente about Automation and Robotics, specifically about some projects developed in his university. In the practical classes a more elaborate example of a Multi-Agent System was presented/taught.
