The Opening Session, realized through Zoom, on September 29th, signaled the start of our Masters in Artificial Intelligence Engineering – MEIA.

This first contact with MEIA, allowed us to meet the coordinator of our Masters, teacher Carlos Ramos, who welcomed us on this new academic stage of our lives.

​

It was highlighted how much this Masters is sought, being the 3rd most wanted in “Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto” (ISEP), and one of two Masters that fills all its vacancies right at the 1st phase of applications.  Comes as no surprise, that being such a seeked Masters, receives applications from students of many different Superior Institutions as well as different countries. Needless to say, but we were filled with pride of being chosen among so many applications.

We received some information about our curricular plan, namely about our teachers and some contents that will be given in our future classes.

​

We were also clarified on the way that our Masters would be running, specially due to the fact that it doesn’t follow the standard of other Masters. Each semester will be divided in 7 weeks and in each of those groups of weeks, only 2 courses will be lectured.

​

The evaluation method was also presented as we’re divided into groups of 5, each with a specific topic, where the team will then perform responses and/or projects to certain challenges.

​

Two second-year students of MEIA also gave their presentation on our Masters, which was really interesting as we were also given the perspective from a students point of view. Our second-year colleagues Hélder Pereira and Nuno Oliveira gave a really good presentation which answered some of our doubts and concerns as they gave some insight on their experience, team challenges as well as given a couple of advices.

Finally, we were all distributed by teams and topics, based on our own academic and/or professional experience, and allowed to the teams first meeting to present ourselves to each other. It became clear that our topic would be about energy and that’s when the wonder team [AI]nergy started.
